Cookout!

Happy Spring, Mom! I bet your tulips are really lovely this year. I’ll have to stop by to see them soon. How is next Thursday? I’ll bring some wine coolers—strawberry is your favorite, right?

I almost forgot the good news! Don is having another cookout at his place this weekend with the guys. I guess he had a deck built and installed a hot tub and wants to christen them. Sounds fun, huh? I’ve really been working out and feel ready to give my new swim trunks a whirl. I wonder if Don would also like strawberry wine coolers? What do you think?

Oh, and the bus crash investigation seems to be heating up. I will probably be pretty busy for a while…

Pizza?

A funny thing happened at work today. I got a tip to pick up a kid relating to some recent muggings and I found him duct taped to a “Slow Children” street sign. Hee hee hee. I hope Don appreciates the humor in my report.

Fitness

I think I need to get in better shape, Mom. At work today I caught sight of Don pumping iron in the workout room while talking to Keith Mars about some missing evidence relating to the Echolls case. He looked so sweaty and fit and seemed to be really enjoying himself. He is in super-great shape. I often wish my arms and pecs looked like his—clothes always look much better on toned people. Don’t you agree?

Better fitness will definitely be my New Year’s resolution. Do you like your Pilates class?

Date Update

Hi Mom. The date was fine, but Deborah seemed a bit desperate. Plus, she kept talking about her son, who sounds really obnoxious. Veronica Mars was stuck babysitting for the kid, so I tried to hurry the date along. You know, for Veronica’s sake.

I doubt I will see Deborah again. She’s just not my type.

Mom, do you think I should shave off my moustache? The salesman at Banana Republic thought I might look cute without it. What do you think?

Oh, and I have a date this weekend! It’s with Deborah Hauser, a teacher at Neptune High, who “won” me at the bachelor auction. I’m thinking of wearing something I got at the Banana.

Upcoming Election

Hey, Mom.

Because the sheriff’s election is soon, Don has been very busy with press conferences and debates. As you probably know, Keith Mars is still really liked by much of Neptune. It will certainly be a nail-biter! So I have hardly even seen Don lately because of it all. He even got some good luck gift from Jake Kane in Aspen. He barely has time for the guys at the station because he is too busy hobnobbing with the rich and fancy. I’ve even seen Terrence Cook (the famous baseball player) hanging around his office.

I can’t wait for this election to be over and things to get back to normal around here.

Oh, but I am really relieved you decided to stay in Neptune, Mom. Yay!

Oops

I’m worried about something that happened at work today, Mom. Veronica Mars came into the office to fill out an application for a part-time receptionist’s position we have open, so I sent her into the interrogation room to work on it. She seemed very serious about the job, but Don was really pissed at me for allowing her to be alone, given her sneaky past and potential connection to the recent bus crash. I suppose I shouldn’t have trusted her. But she really is such an adorable thing. Plus, then I accidentally slipped and called Don by his first name instead of “Sheriff.” I really need to be better about separating our work relationship from our personal one. Ack. I just hope he doesn’t un-invite me to this weekend’s poker night. I have been watching Bravo’s Celebrity Poker Showdown and everything in preparation.

Night Out

I ran into my neighbor Mr. Wu at Whole Foods and he invited me out for his cousin’s birthday party at a club called “Possibilities.” I’m not sure why I was asked to tag along, but it was a fun night. The music was awesome.

Mom, how is Louie doing? I hope he is feeling better after his ordeal last month. Poor little doggy.

The Kane murder case got really interesting this week when Veronica Mars turned in her boyfriend because his alibi appeared to be falsified. Don spent quite awhile in the interrogation room with the boy before having to release him. You know, good lawyers and all. I almost felt sorry for the kid because Don can be really hard on a suspect in interrogation. You should see him in action…

How is the retirement property hunting going in Florida? I haven’t heard from you a few weeks. Keep me posted. I hope you find something you like, but will be really sad if you decide to move away. What would I do without our weekly Gilmore Girls/dinner dates?

Feeling Better?

Hi Mom! How’s your sinus infection? I hope you are looking into it. Dr. Levine is a good doctor. And he has the best suckers. Be sure to grab a couple on the way out of his office.

Don arrested Veronica Mars (Keith’s daughter) again for some fake ID business he thinks she is running at Neptune High. Veronica is a very smart girl, though, and eventually proved that this other guy was just setting her up. I brought him into the station, but felt really bad for Don when it was revealed he was wrong about the case. He put on a brave face, but deep down I think he hates being shown up by a teenaged girl. Poor guy.

Crap. Turns out that Leo (that’s the new deputy) has a band, too. And I heard they are really good. We might pull out of Battle of the Bands.

New Deputy

Hey Mom! How are you? My amp has been buzzing for a few days now and Dave “Devil” Peters and the guys are coming over this weekend for practice. I suppose I need to take it into the guitar shop for repair.

The department has been working really hard on a new case the past few days. I won’t bore you with details, but it is so urgent that Don asked Keith Mars to help out. It’s very tense around here. But worse yet, Don hired a new young deputy who is really an attention hog. In the briefing today, he was really showing off and working hard to get Don’s attention with his fancy New York or whatever accent. I hate showoffs and wish Don would notice my work more often.

Ooh, I’m getting a call from Don, so I have to run. Might be a break on the case. See you soon, Mom. I’ll stop by and we’ll make that pie I promised.

Cookout!

Hi Mom!

So tonight was a blast. Last night Sheriff Lamb and I busted up these rich kids’ keg party at the beach, so Don had a cookout with some of the guys in the department this evening with the confiscated beer. We grilled dogs and burgers, watched some football, that kind of stuff. It was really fun. Don gets some flak for being a jerk around the department, but I think he is just misunderstood. He’s a nice guy if you get to know him out of uniform.
